Abstract Background Magnesium sulphate (MgSO 4 ) has been proven as an analgesic, neuromuscular blocker agent, and treatment of acute asthma. Objective The study aimed to assess the safety efficacy magnesium infusion for patients with atrial fibrillation. Methods A prospective, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled was conducted on 55 fibrillation at Emergency Department. group consisting 41 received 20 mEq (2.5 g, 10 mmol) over a 20-minute period, followed by 2-hour period intravenously in addition standard treatment, control 14 placebo treatment. ECG repeated monitored upto 24 hours after infusion. Results placebo. heart rate 127 bpm – 210 presentation emergency department it reached <100bpm 70%(n=31) 150 minutes MgSO Two attained Placebo In group, 65% subjects normal sinus rhythm end more likely than achieve convert rhythm. report reverted 74.5% 25.5 % within hours. stay mean 2.25 days ICU, while stayed 4.25 ICU.
